It is possible, but note that some of the fancier effects you may want to do might not be possible (advanced controls with lines, etc.). Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw are typically used to create really fancy logos, although SmartDraw can do quite a bit with some artistic effort. Let us know if you have further questions.
