SmartDraw won't start up on main PC but runs fine on the old one

The main PC isn't exactly new but it's a Pentium IV 3.0Ghz with 1GB of ram and running WinXP Pro.  The printer connected to it is a Konica 2300W laser.  SmartDraw 2009 crashes on startup on the main PC. I have also tried SmartDraw 2008 with the same results.

However, the old PC which doesn't even have an internet connection or a printer attached to it has no problem running the SmartDraw 2009 trial.  It's an old PIII 700 MhZ with 750MB of ram.

I like this drawing app the most out of quite a few that I have tried but I can't buy it if I can't solve the problem with the main PC.

Anyone have a suggestion for me to try?

Since this problem occurs when you try to open or start up SmartDraw, SmartDraw might be having trouble getting information from your default printer.

Can you try changing your default printer to something else and try running SmartDraw again?    It doesn't have to be a printer that's connected.  Alternatively, you can install our PDF Filter (which acts as a printer) and set that as the defualt.

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't solve the problem unfortuantely.

I took a snapshot of the error box which pops up when i try to run SmartDraw 2009.  The file which is falling down in WinXP is urlmon.dll.

I did a repair of the WinXP install but that didn't do anything.  Btw, the old computer has the same version of WinXP.  I used a Registry app to check for any errors with file links but it only found a few errors really from some orphaned registry entries of deleted apps.

I was going to buy the 2D version of SmartDraw 2009 because I only need to do floorplans.

Is there a trial of the 2D version available.  Would that install any differently to the full package?

There is just SmartDraw 2009.  There is no 2D version..

Since the error occurs with urlmon.dll, this points to a corrupted dll on your Windows XP system.  This is a dll that is commonly used with Internet Explorer version 5.  Try updating your Internet Explorer versiont o 5.5, 6, or even verison 7 and try again.
