Mind map to Gantt (to PERT?)

Dear All

Hi, I am a very new to SmartDraw and am not sure if this is teh correct place to post a question. Please let me know if it is the wrong place and I'll post it at the right place.

I must be hornest here that I have not started to use it yet as the download for the free trial is very slow and only last 7 days, hence progressing slow here. Now, I knew from reading the pdfs that mind map can produce Gantt and changing Gantt changes teh mind map. Can PERT be produced automatically? If not is there some org chart, i.e. fundamental idea organizing templates such mind map that produce PERT Gantt and PERT automatically?

I am afraid that is not currently a capability we offer in SmartDraw.  Possibly in the future, but we have no specific plans at this point.  If you have further questions please let us know.

Hello SmartDraw Support,

I am also using the mind map -> gantt functionality. There are some items in the map that are not really tasks so I would like to remove from the gantt. The problem is that removing from the gantt removes them from the mind map. Is there some way to mark out sub topics so that they can remain in the mind map but be removed from the gantt. This could be done using a note on the sub topic but that is not ideal.

Tim,

I am afraid we do not offer that capability in SmartDraw.  What is in the Gantt Chart must be in the Mind Map and vice versa.  I will pass on the PERT suggestion to our Development Team though.  If you have further questions please let us know.

Hello, I see this statement many times throughout the forum:

"I am afraid we do not offer that capability in SmartDraw."

Are you doing anything to include these items in future versions? Don't you get tired of making the same remark over and over? I hope for the sake of SmartDraw users (including me!) that you are working on some of these. It would be much easier to prove the usefulness of SmartDraw if we had some extra features.

Thank you for posting.  While we would love to implement all the features customers request, the simple fact of the matter is that we are not always able to do so (at least as quickly as many users want).  In addition to that, some requests are outside of what the developers aim to accomplish with SmartDraw.  So while we do use the "I am afraid we do not offer that capability in SmartDraw at this time" reply more frequently than we care to; know that the suggestions / requests are logged and are at the very least reviewed by our Development Team.

So that said, you do see the "I am afraid we do not offer that capability in SmartDraw at this time" answer in the SmartDraw Forum frequently, as that is what it is for, to make inquiries and discuss solutions to issues customers are experiencing. This frequently includes "how to" questions for capabilities SmartDraw does not have. 

We're you seeking a particular feature we don't currently offer?
