    Construction related templates and libraries

Does anyone know where i can find templates and/or libraries with a robust list of construction related shapes, symbols, templates. i write specifications for number of construction materials and would like to utilize SmartDraw more. i am some what graphically challenged and get bogged down trying to create my own libraries.

    any suggestions would be appreciated.

    sincerely,

    jeff

    Hey Jeff,

Can you be a little more specific to what you are looking for.  A majority of the tools I need (I use the floor plan program in Smartdraw 90% of the time) are in one of the libraries, but other times I just look for what I need online, download it, and then use a program advised by Aaron http://www.getpaint.net/   to clean it up.  Its very easy to use.

Give me an idea what you are looking for and I might be able to send you to a web sight that has some of those symbols.

Also, if it is a complete list of stuff that is missing,  You can ask the Smartdraw people.  They are pretty damn good at adding libraries if they feel it will help the Smartdraw User Community....

To ask them, you just post in the forums... they are always watching.....

    Best regards

    Jack,

Primarily i write specifications for concrete related materials that i sell. Because each construction project has both unique and similar conditions from previous ones, i want to build libraries and templates that help me quickly write specifications.

the typical symbols i would use are rebars, plumbing, concrete slabs and walls, construction joints, and so on. i would like to build templates that are structured similar to the elevations template.

i have discovered that i can cut and paste shapes from microsoft PowerPoint into SmartDraw. It is possible that i can do the same from some of the CAD viewers.

i appreciate your suggestions. i'm pretty sure they helped me find that i could mine other applications for what i need.

    sincerely,

    jeff

This reply is just to say that I would also like more shapes and library items for construction.

    Such as:

predefined concrete piers at industry diameters,

scaled lumber silhouettes (joists, girders, beams, headers, etc. in "1x", "2x" "doubled"  etc.)

Also would like to be able to quickly define  multiple points on a line at given spacing--such as piers on center under a girder.  Am new to product so may have missed a tool for doing this.

Grouping multiple elements (lines and circles along a defined axis) is an action that would be useful...as I say, still learning.

    Jacqueline,

The spacing feature is not something we offer I'm afraid.  You would have to do that manually by using the grid or using a fixed distance line for reference.  I will pass the content request on to the Content Development Team for further review.  Thanks for posting!

We are also looking for plumbing symbols, etc., for submitting permit plans for some renovation work in our home.  We have SmartDraw but were surprised none of it was included, considering the amount of other info you that you do have.  We would appreciate that as well, but given the timeframe we're under, it probably won't help us with our home renovation.
