How do I insert automatic conectors in a simple, basic drawing?

I do not want to waste time trying to figure out what templates supports automatic connectors. In older versions of Smartdraw you could simply add them as any other shape/line.

Removing white space around finished drawing

I know this is going to be an easy one with all the power of the software. I have created a diagram of an apartment complex complete with scale distance between the buildings and near by roads and fence. On the screen there is a good bit of white space around my drawing. I want to print to my 36" wide color printer without all the white space so the actual image will be as large as possible on a 36 x 48 board while keeping the proportions. Can someone please tell me the way to remove (or crop) the outer unused space so my print will be as large as my paper?

Utility diagrams and symbols

Just downloaded SmartDraw, and can't get started. I need to make a simplified diagram of a neighborhood electrical utility circuit. I need standard overhead (line dash dash dash line) and underground (line with three crosshatches) wiring lines. There is a line type of "line dot dot line", but I coudn't modify it to add another dot. There was no house symbol that I could see, either. I don't really need power pole shapes.

I've looked extensively through the symbol libraries and have not found what's needed. Is this something that SmartDraw can do? If so, where do I find the appropriate templates, symbols, line types, etc.? Are they in the program, or available from outside? Should I not be using SmartDraw for this type of diagram? I've done this in Visio, but don't have it now, and it's a bit pricey.

Properties in Gantt Charts - working hours standard

Hello! Is it possible to define working hours as we can define working days? For instance, from Monday to Friday, my working hours are from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00 how can i do that?

Is it possible to dublicate entire branches of a mind map?

Hi there,

does anybody know if it is possible to dublicate entire branches of a mind map and attach it to another topic (not move it - it should remain at the previous branch and additionally I want to attach the same branch to another topic)?

I have many processes in which the second or third step is the same and I would like to avoid writing the same again and again if that´s possible.

I'm a UK based bathroom designer and want to use the symbols of their kit available from manufactures, i.e. I do not want to have to redraw everything! How I import eps, dwg files etc into smartdraw?

excel export in table format not picture format

Are you working on allowing the developed chart/table in SmartDraw to truly export into Excel (tables) rather than export as a picture?

This is probably very basic but I am doing a calendar and trying to delete some rows in the template but it keeps telling me the format is fixed. What can I do about this?

Importing Mindmanager into SmartDraw

I am trying to bring a mindmanager project file into SmartDraw. Saving the mindmanager file as a .wmf did not work. Is there any way?

I can save the mindmanager file as an active .pdf or .ppt but I'm not sure if I can bring those into SmartDraw either.

Any insight is appreciated!

Technology Adoption Lifecycle template

I'm looking for a template to draw a Technology Adoption Lifecycle chart, which uses a smooth, continuous curve similar to a normal distribution curve.

The line charts in the library use straight lines between data points instead of smoothed lines through data points.

Is there a "smoothing" feature that I've missed? If not, could this be added to the feature request list?

Adding Markers to Maps

I want to add a push pin marker for every location zip code I have on an Excel spreadsheet. I know how to open a live map and size it but I can't get the markers to appear once I've pointed the program to the spreadsheet. It just freezes up and never let's me point out which column to pull the zip data from or anything else.

Dear Concerned,

Since SmartDraw doesn't support unicode (which is surprising) I would like to know how I could type in Arabic. I tried changing the regional settings in "Language for non-Unicode programs" but that wouldn't work either!

What's the way around it?

Auto spacing is not working after inserting Split Paths

I just added a Split Path to my Flow Diagram. SmartDraw adjusted the spacing of the branch where I inserted the Split Path; however the paths to the right didn't auto adjust the spacing. The result is a nicely spaced left half of the chart and a squished right half.

After i click on 'Gantt Chart' in the smart panel, the mind map gets converted into a Gantt Chart in the main window. However, in the Smart Panel, under the 'Tasks' tab, there are only two options - add task and remove task. Plus there is no 'dependency' tab. Any ideas? the panel does not look like the one seen in the demo videos. missing tabs.

SmartDraw 2010 runs slower or responds to commands slower than SmartDraw 2008

Why is there such a speed difference between SmartDraw 2010 and Smartdraw 2008? When moving from object to object or from an objest to a drawn line there is a severe delay with changing object sizes or shapes. Is there a Microsoft update for this issue? Is this a known issue? I have a 2.3GHz processor with 3GB of RAM and a ADM 64-bit provessor. It is a Compaq presario. Can anyone Help me with this problem?

Problems when exporting to MS Word 2007 and/or MS Excel 2007

Hi all

I'm using SmartDraw 2010 and I have an issue when I export to MS Word 2007 and/or MS Excel 2007.

I.e. when I choose to export to Word, Word is opening up only a blank document. Nothing else is happening. I do not see my i.e. flowchart.

Do I need to configure something in Word and Excel?

org chart with dotted line reporting

argh - this is driving me nuts, and i can't beleive smartdraw 2009 can't do what i want.

I have four direct reports, all managers. I am creating a position that will be reporting to two of them. but they each have other direct reports that do not co-report. I can't seem to get it to do what i want. all i need to do is create a regular org chart, and when i am done, add a dotted line from one employee to another manager. can't seem to get the box to attach to the line.

Help?

Can't print my drawings

I'm trying to print a SmartDraw drawing but not able to. The SmartDraw file size is aroung 70K but when I print the size increases to around 70MB on the print spool. The same thing happens when I export the drawing to PowerPoint or Word. Why does the print file size increase?

All the pull-down menus are not available.

Hi, I have just tryed to use the SmartDraw 2010. It really a excellent software. But I met a problem:

All the pull-down menus are not available to chose. Like the color of Font, I could just chose the default one, like Blank in the "Recent Colors", white in the "Theme colors", deep red in the "Stardard Colors", all of others could not be chosen, as shown in the figure attached.

And this happened to a lot of the pull-down menus, like "Alignment", "Directions", "Quick Styles", nearly all of them.

Therefore, I am really puzzled, and I think it cause some trouble.

i am trying in create a newsletter for our club but could not get the way how to save the file in a compatible format with e-mail software like outlook. I just have the possibility in make a pdf or word or exel. Outlook would charge formats .msg
